The OM4 optical fiber is optimized for laser, with a high bandwidth, with a core diameter of 50µm, and a cladding diameter of 125µm. The OM1 and OM2 standards allow Gigabit Ethernet speeds (1 Gbit/s). The OM3 standard allows speeds of up to 10 Gigabit Ethernet at a distance of 300 m. OM4 cables use optimized 50µm/125µm multimode optical fiber, enabling speeds of up to 10 Gigabit Ethernet at a distance of 550m (850nm).
