HD is the term used to differentiate the systems that generate, transmit or support HD content (High Definition) with those of standard definition or low definition (SD).

HD resolutions are usually at least 1280 x 720 pixels by taking the ratio "width x height". Being the height, 720 pixels, which make high resolution.

DisplayPort is the name of a digital interconnect interface intended for video transmission between a computer and its monitor.

One of the best features of the DisplayPort technology is its high resolution, allowing 4096 x 2160 pixels maximum resolution.

1080p is an alternative name for the maximum resolution used in high definition television (HDTV). The number 1080 represents 1080 lines of vertical display resolution, while the letter p stands for progressive scan and non-interlaced.

The meaning would be HDTV. It is used to indicate that the device is compatible with high definition. For high definition they have created three technical standards. ATSC, DVB and ISDB-T. Since 2005 the possibility of assigning HD Ready label as a kind of obligation to define the devices that have more than 720 lines (720p, 1080i at 50 or 60 Hz) was assessed.

Thunderbolt is called the cable used by Apple for the transmission of video, considered one of the fastest technologies for laptops in terms of data transmission.

Its development is based on the PCI Express and Displayport architecture.

They are capable of transferring data, high definition video and voltage. Able to reach up to 10 Gb/s in both directions, a speed 20 times faster than a USB 2.0 or 12times faster than a firewire cable.

Currently we can find Thunderbolt technology with 10 GB/s, Thunderbolt 2 with speeds higher than 20 gb/s and Thunderbolt 3 with speeds of 40 GB/s and up to 15 W of voltage.

With Thunderbolt 3 we will have compatibility with HD devices like 4k or 5K screens.
