8-port CPU controller (8-Port CPU KVM Switch) from the prestigious firm Uniclass. The Dual Console Cat.5 range interconnects computers with the KVM-Switch using Cat.5 UTP cable, which facilitates installation and allows a distance of up to 100m. It also allows you to install 2 consoles, one local and another remote connected by UTP Cat.5 cable. The connection of the computers with the KVM-Switch is done by Cat.5 UTP cable. For each computer the switch has a female RJ45 connector to which a cable of up to 100m can be connected. At the other end of this UTP cable one of the following two modules must be connected:
  1. VGA + USB module (reference # UM83). This module has an RJ45 female connector on one end and on the other end there are two cables that are terminated in a USB (A-Male) and VGA (HD15 Male) connector. The USB port manages the keyboard and mouse signal. Ideal to be used on PC, Mac and Sun.
  2. VGA module + PS2 + PS2 (reference # UM82). This module has an RJ45 female connector on one end and on the other end there are 3 hoses terminated on PS2 (2 x MiniDin6 Macho) and VGA (HD15 Macho) connectors. The PS2 ports manage the keyboard and mouse signal. Ideal to be used in PC.

Connection of the keyboard, mouse and monitor of the console Allows the connection of 2 control consoles: a local console and a remote console. Both consoles share the same keyboard, mouse and monitor signal. From the local console you can control access to the remote console for security reasons. The connection of both consoles to the CPU switch is described below:
  1. Local console It has connector VGA (HD15 Female) and PS2 for keyboard / mouse (2 x MiniDIN6 Female).
  2. Remote console. It has a female RJ45 connector and the connection is made using Cat.5 UTP cable up to 100m. At the other end, the Remote Console Module is connected (reference # UM81). This module has VGA connector (HD15 Female) and PS2 for keyboard / mouse (2 x MiniDIN6 Female).

Chain of switches
Enables cascading of up to 8 switches in the Uniclass Dual Console Cat.5 series (references # UM7x). This allows you to configure a maximum of 256 ports (8 units of reference # UM83). For this the switch has two HD15 connectors (IN / OUT). A small 10 cm cable is supplied for the chaining.

KVM

A KVM switch (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) is a hardware device that allows the control of multiple computers or servers through a single set of input and output peripherals.

This technology acts as an electronic signal bridge that switches the data flow between various host units and the user console. It manages DDC/EDID signal emulation to prevent operating systems from detecting monitor disconnection during switching, ensuring the stability of display configurations and operational continuity.

Specification Technical Description
Video Interfaces VGA, HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI-I
Connectivity USB 2.0/3.0, PS/2, Audio Jack
Switching Methods Push buttons, Hotkeys, OSD

The integration of KVM switches into modern infrastructures has significantly optimized rack space and reduced power consumption. With the evolution towards KVM-over-IP, administrators can remotely manage data centers at the BIOS level, enabling critical interventions regardless of the operating system state.

Key Technical Detail

Intermediate and advanced models use dedicated microprocessors for each input port, ensuring the computer "perceives" an active peripheral connection, eliminating USB enumeration latency.

Main Advantages

  • Significant reduction in cabling and redundant hardware.
  • Centralized and secure access to multiple systems.
  • Ability to manage headless servers.

Note: KVM switches are essential for operational efficiency in data centers and server rooms.
