This protection rating is governed by the international standard IEC 60529, where the first digit (6) indicates total protection against contact and the ingress of dust, ensuring the system is hermetically sealed against fine particles. The second digit (5) certifies resistance against low-pressure water jets from any angle using a 6.3 mm nozzle.
